Mexico is well connected by air to many countries and over 30 cities receive direct flights from North America and Canada. Cheap connections to the Caribbean and the rest of Latin America are also available. From Europe, there are flights to Mexico City and Cancún. Mexico has nearly 100 airports consisting of both regional and international airports. Aeroméxico and Mexicana are the largest Mexican airlines.

Mexico's main airports are as follows:

Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX)

Benito Juarez International Airport is located 13 kilometers (eight miles) east of Mexico City.

Terminal Information

The airport consists of one terminal and travelers are provided with numerous facilities including information counters, banking and currency exchange, ATMs, business and conference facilities, Internet access, lockers and baggage handling services and emergency medical assistance. A wide selection of shops, including duty-free outlets, restaurants and bars are also available throughout the terminal. Facilities for the disabled travelers are also provided at the airport.

Car Rental

Rental car companies providing services at the Benito Juarez International Airport include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Eurocar, Eurodollar, Hertz, Kimcar and National.

Parking and Transportation

There are four car parks located close to the terminal building, offering nearly 5000 parking spaces. Both short- and long-term parking are available.

Travelers can take the metro, taxis or buses to get to Mexico City from the airport. Although the metro is inexpensive, it can be crowded during peak hours. Pre-paid taxi tickets are available at the airport and visitors are advised to only hire an authorized taxi. Some hotels provide a shuttle service to their hotels, or travelers can take the airport bus just outside Gate D to travel to and around Mexico City.

General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY)

The airport is located 24 kilometers (15 miles) northeast of Monterrey.

Terminal Information

The airport consists of two terminals, connected by a subway. A bank, several ATMs, a post office, two information counters, two restaurants and several shops, including duty-free outlets, are available at the terminals for the benefit of travelers. Business-class passengers and club members can make full use of the executive lounges and the airport hotels offer Business Centers and meeting rooms as well. The airport also offers lifts and ramped access for disabled travelers.

Car Rental

Car rental booths of major rental companies such as Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, Totsa, Sultana and Thrifty are located at National and International Arrivals areas.

Parking and Transportation

Short-term and long-term parking are available at the airport car park, conveniently located in front of the terminal building.

Travelers can take the minibus or a taxi to and from the airport. Pre-paid taxi tickets can be purchased at the airport.

Cancún International Airport (CUN)

The airport is located 22 kilometers (14 miles) southwest of Cancún.

Terminal Information

Cancún International Airport has two terminals with an airport shuttle service providing transport between Terminal 1 and 2. A bank is located in Terminal 2 and ATMs and currency exchange booths are available in both terminals. The airport also features restaurants, gift shops and duty-free outlets, information counters and business and meeting facilities. Ramps, wheelchairs and accessible toilets are provided for disabled travelers.

Car Rental

Car rental companies such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Executive, Hertz, National and Thrifty offer rental cars at the airport. Car rental desks are located in Terminal 2.

Parking and Transportation

Both terminals offer a secured car park each, and the parking areas are open 24 hours.

A public bus service operates from the Cancún International Airport to Cancún and Riviera Maya. Official taxi service and a shuttle service are also available. It is recommended to reserve a shuttle in advance.

(Guadalajara) Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL)

The airport is located 17 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Guadalajara.

Terminal Information

Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport's terminal offers many facilities for the air traveler. For hotel bookings, go to the tourist information desk and for airport information, go to the help desk of your respective airline. A restaurant, several shops, conference and business facilities including fax and photocopy services, banks, ATMs, currency exchange facilities and a post office are also provided in the terminal.

Car Rental

Companies such as Aries, Budget, Dollar, Econorent, Hertz, National, Ohana and Optima offer car rental services at the airport.

Parking and Transportation

The airport features a car park, situated just outside the terminal.

The airport offers an authorized taxi service and the airport minibus (Servicio Colectivo) provides transport to the city center every hour. Bus tickets can be purchased at the booth located outside the Arrivals area.
